A BRIEF HISTORY
We are in the heart of the Downtown Fort Myers River District, adjacent to the Luminary Hotel & Co. at the corner of Bay & Dean Streets. City Tavern is in The Dean Building, which has roots dated back to 1914 when John Morgan Dean built the structure around two existing 19th-century homes. The original hotel that Dean built was called The Morgan Hotel.
City Tavern has been in business since 1998 and has been under the same local ownership since 2008. While working closely with the River District Alliance, neighboring businesses, and the City of Ft. Myers, City Tavern is one of many downtown destination spots in the Fort Myers River District. We welcome everyone to come enjoy a little piece of Lee County history, that is, Downtown Fort Myers!
